Weyl Cosserat Elasticity and Gravitational Memory: An Effective Microstructured Model of Spacetime

We construct a mathematically controlled correspondence between the electric and magnetic parts of the Weyl tensor in vacuum general relativity and the kinematics of a micropolar (Cosserat) elastic medium.
