Sharp Tangential NEC Minimization and Israel Surface Layers in Schwarzschild Mass Interpolations

We study static, spherically symmetric metrics in Schwarzschild gauge whose mass function increases smoothly from M 1 to M 2 M 1 across an annulus [R 1,R 2] outside the larger Schwarzschild radius.
