Electromagnetic wave propagation in static black hole spacetimes: an effective refractive index description in Schwarzschild geometry

We present a fully covariant and gauge-invariant formulation of electromagnetic wave propagation in static, spherically symmetric black hole spacetimes, developed entirely within Schwarzschild-like coordinates.
